Dolphin Bay Resort  recently invited members of the World Wildlife Foundation's Dolphin Conservation Team (WWF) to spend some time with us and study "our" dolphins in the bay. We at the resort would like to do all we can to ensure that the natural environment they live in stays as safe and pristine as possible for them. During their stay, they interviewed local people and fishermen about their experience with the dolphins. The fishermen told us that two types of dolphins live in the bay most months of the year. They estimate there are about 20 bottlenose dolphins, which are the ones most people see on boat trips and sometimes from the shore, and about 10 finless porpoises .

The finless porpoises are more shy, and usually just stick their heads out of the water when they hear the sound of a boat and then swim away. The ladies were very lucky to see 3 finless porpoises 2-3 meters in size on their second day with us!  

We would like to thank Khun Neung and Khun Kung for taking the time to visit us and study the conditions in the bay. They plan to make another visit soon to present some ideas and recommendations of how we can best raise the awareness of locals and guests about protecting our friends in the bay and conserving the beautiful natural environment they live in! We at the resort have promised our full support for any projects or activities they plan to conduct in our area.
